Our Teams
The club consists of a Mens DII team, a Mens DIII team, a Women's DII team, and an "old boys" team (the Old Boars) for players ages 35 and older. The teams compete in the PNRFU union, which is made up of Mens, Women's, and Collegiate Clubs from Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
Pigs in the Community
In its 60 years the PRC has promoted the sport of rugby through competition as well as fundraising and charitable contributions. In recent years the club has donated to Rugby Oregon to help promote youth rugby throughout the state. Our members have volunteered with Store to Door and SOLVE Oregon. Our fundraisers have had a strong focus on supporting community organizations such as Value Village, NW Elixirs, Oregon Brewers Festival and Bottle Drop, as well as many local Chefs during our annual chef competition, SCRUMptious.
In the past the club has supported organizations such as St. Vincent de Paul with their Adopt-A-Family Program, Portland’s wheelchair rugby club, and has given over $15,000 to New Avenues for Youth in support of homeless teens in the city.
The club has partnered with SE Works, a fantastic local community-based workforce development organization that provides employment, training and supportive services. For several years we supported the Boys & Girls Club of Portland Metro with donations.
Our Members
Members of the PRC come from all walks of life. Every season the Pigs invite new players to participate in the club, regardless of experience level. Every member has equal opportunity to compete and is essential to the success of the club. Our club welcomes members ages 18+ and are able to help find the right youth team as well through our partnership with Rugby Oregon. Our goal is to get as many people involved in rugby as possible, whether they be players, coaches, referees, fans, supporters or alumni. There are also many opportunities to get further involved in rugby through our officer and board positions and on up the ladder through PNRFU and USA Rugby.
The PRC also has a strong old boy network in their Old Boars side and their support both on and off the pitch is critical to the success of the club. The club occasionally assists with accommodations and employment for international exchange players. After all, the brotherhood and sisterhood of rugby encompasses the globe and is home to the greatest camaraderie in organized sport today. The community connection experienced through joining a rugby club is unparalleled. Rugby means making lifelong friendships and close connections, it is the feel of coming home and finding your family.
