What to Bring to Practices
Come ready to go in your athletic wear - shorts / leggings & shirt (know that you will be getting these items muddy)
Cleats (no toe cleat or metal cleats allowed) - soccer cleats are best unless you are wanting a specialized pair of rugby cleats. Softball and football are only allowed if they are plastic / rubber molded and without the toe cleat.
Mouth Guard - most mouthguards are created equal and the multi-packs usually are best because mouth guards get lost easily. Be sure to always have at least one in your kit bag.
Water
Plastic bag for muddy clothes & cleats - TIP if you wrap your wet cleats in newspaper then you can prevent some gnarly smells.
Rain gear - while you won't want to wear your rain gear for the whole practice, it will come in handy during warm ups and after practice.
Warm clothes to wear home.
Grackles Team Goals
Have fun playing rugby by learning new skills: We want to play and have fun as well as learn new skills. Developing rugby skills allows athletes to play the game and enjoy the overall experience.
Maintain a positive environment through encouragement and teamwork: Encourage all players, coaches, and parents to maintain a positive rugby environment including all verbal & nonverbal actions, behaviors at practices and games, as well as off the field.
Respect all teammates, opponents, referees and others on and off the field: Players need coaches and parents to support and model good sportsmanship towards referees, opponents and teammates so they can embody it themselves.
Learn life skills while playing the game of rugby: Rugby teaches many life lessons including leadership, commitment, respect for others, self-control, decision making, communication, etc. We are encouraging the development of people, not just rugby players.
